It is with great pleasure that we invite you to apply for the Gaggenau Sommelier Awards 2018.

The international Gaggenau Sommelier Awards was launched in 2014 to offer an insight into the future of wine culture, by recognising and promoting highly talented sommeliers.

This year Gaggenau is proud to invite you to take part in the local sommelier competition. The winner of the local sommelier competition will be representing the UK at the International Sommelier Awards in Beijing, China in autumn 2018. He/she will be competing against talented sommeliers from around the world in front of international press and influential figures viniculture.

To enter please complete the questionnaire. Four questions will need to be answered in the form of an MP4 format video clip that you can send via e-mail. Together with the video we will also require your CV and a recent portrait photo. The application submission deadline is 30th June 2018. Please send your details to the e-mail below

A jury will screen through all applications and select five (5) candidates for participation in the Gaggenau UK sommelier competition, and invite them to the competition event in the Gaggenau London showroom on 23rd July 2018.

Candidates will be informed by 2nd July 2018 whether their application has been successful. We are looking forward to receiving your application and would like to wish you the best of luck.

How to take part in the Gaggenau UK Sommelier Competition?

• Please send your entry to communications.uk@gaggenau.com. It must include:
  • your current CV with milestones of professional career (maximum 2 pages)
  • a current portrait photo
  • the completed questionnaire (further information below)
  • MP4 video clip (further information below)

Please film yourself answering the following questions in a MP4 file format video clip:

1. What other life passion do you have outside of your sommelier profession?
2. Where does your passion for wine come from, how did it begin?
3. What does connoisseurship mean to you? How would you transfer this knowledge others?
4. Please explain your views on emotion as an important factor of being inspiration to others?

  • Sommelier candidates should be aged between 25 and 35 at the time of competition who are already working with well-known master chefs and is sommelier "on the floor" of a restaurant (employed)
  • The candidate must be able to attend Gaggenau International Sommelier Awards in Beijing (autumn 2018) should he/she win the local competition (Gaggenau UK Sommelier Competition 2018)
  • We will only use your personal details to run Gaggenau UK Sommelier Competition, send you updates about the competition and to notify you if you have won.
  • Your personal details will be treated in accordance with our privacy policy and in accordance with the law.
